What to expect if you learn to drive in Exeter
Although everyone has their own route to pass the driving test I will tell you roughly what to expect if you have driving lessons in Exeter.
I usually start beginners on the practice road circuit at the Devon Drivers Centre. This gives confidence to new drivers as they can develop their basic car control skills in a safe and controlled environment without fear of clipping a kerb (there aren't any) or of having a frustrated motorist drive up their back bumper.
Then we move onto a bigger but quiet road such as the old A30 until you can control the car and change gear safely etc.
Once basic car control is established we begin driving in Exeter and work on junctions in more depth, including some simple roundabouts. This enables you get the most out of learning to drive in Exeter, as at this stage you'll be driving all around Exeter. This is also the stage that we begin working on the manoeuvring exercises, which helps with slow speed contol at junctions.
Then we can move on to the larger roads and then busier traffic as well as some of the features particular to driving in Exeter. Finally we cover faster roads such as rural A roads and dual carriageways. We fill in many other areas of the driving syllabus along the way and then begin practicing and building experience leading up to taking a mock test and utlimately the driving test.
